Seriously, you guys. My entire desktop is filled with pictures of food. I’ve been so lazy to put them up. Please please please encourage me – could really use the motivation!
It’s not often that a new restaurant opens in Berkeley. And I for one am glad that Saigon Eats took over the vacated spot in the Bear’s Lair food court.
I don’t know too many Vietnamese restaurants near campus, and I’m a sucker for banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich), so I decided to give the place a try.
Apart from the sandwiches, Saigon Eats also serves combo plates, Asian tacos, pho, and assorted milk teas. Everything looks fresh, the place is clean, and the service is good.
The sandwich? Mmmm. Like I said, I’m a sucker for banh mi, especially with BBQ pork and Sriracha hot sauce. The bread had just the right amount of crunch, and the pickled veggies and meat complemented each other well.
With pretty decent prices (and a 20% student discount), this place looks like it’s going to be a keeper. I’ll definitely be dropping by more to get my sandwich fix.
Oh, and again, I need your guys’ encouragement for Food Spotlight posts! I think it’ll be a win-win situation. 🙂
