If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m not exactly the most mainstream of guys. This has been a boon and a crutch to my years growing up (ooo…vocab words!), but I guess I’ll quickly explain.
I’m the type of person who shies away from the mainstream. I don’t listen to mainstream music, I don’t like mainstream brands, and God forbid I have something that everyone else has.
Exhibit A: iPods. For the longest time, I loathed iPods. Not because they were crappy music players. Not because I hated Apple. I just couldn’t stand the fact that if I bought one, I would have something that every other person in America had.
Same with a lot of other things I own. You may haven noticed my collection of shirts. I bothers me when someone else has the same shirt I do, so I buy shirts from websites that no one has heard of.
The other day, I was sad because I spotted someone else on campus with my Timbuk2 bag…in the exact same colors.
Don’t even get me started on mainstream pop music.
I don’t know what it is with me, but I’ve pretty much always been this way. I like to think of myself as unique, but this definitely clashes at times with popular taste. Yes, I admit that I’m weird.
Oh well. I am Glen, and I am me. The end.
