So I finally found time to watch a movie today. Kick-Ass is a movie that’s been floating around for a while now, and after seeing numerous trailers and reading the comic series, I knew I would eventually watch the movie.
Kick-Ass is a story about a normal teenage kid who decides to dress up as a superhero and fight crime. After his initial fight is captured on a cell phone and posted on YouTube, he becomes an instant celebrity. That’s when the troubles begin.
This movie did not disappoint, mainly because I had read the comics and knew what to expect. If action movies are your sort of thing, this movie has it in spades. Plus an 11-year-old superhero named “Hit Girl” who swears profusely and decapitates the bad guys.
Which brings me to my next point. This movie is not a movie for the kids. There are tons of gory and violent scenes, and the movie is sure to cause controversy, if it hasn’t already. Plus, some of the things that happened were totally random and didn’t make sense.
But those issues aside, it’s a well-done film, with amazing fight scenes, guns galore, and quite a bit of humor. Given the infinite improbabilities and gore, this movie doesn’t have to make sense. It’s an action movie, and its job is to entertain. Kick-Ass accomplishes this with flying colors.
