Came across a beautiful quote about love from The Prophet, a book of poetic essays by the Lebanese-American philosopher, writer, and artist Gibran.
“Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.”– Khalil Gibran
I think it does a good job describing true love – the “bond” that this quote is referring to doesn’t mean connection, but rather restriction. He’s saying to avoid this restriction and go with the ebb and flow – love isn’t static, after all.
