Food Spotlight | Trattoria La Siciliana

There are many good Italian restaurants near Berkeley. I would have to say that Trattoria La Siciliana is the cream of the crop. Four stars on Yelp over 700 reviews don’t lie. My taste buds don’t, either.

Located in the nicer Rockridge neighborhood down College Avenue, the restaurant is nice and has a homey feel to it. At one point when a large crowd had built up outside waiting their turn (thankfully we arrived early), the chef himself went outside to quickly chat with would-be patrons and to thank them for waiting.

I ordered the Pappardelle alla Campagniola, a delightful dish of “fresh house-made egg pappardelle pasta sauteed with fresh Sicilian style tomato sauce, prepared with ricotta cheese, sweet Italian sausage, swiss chard and sweet onions.” It was delicious, very flavorful, and fresh. You can tell that the ingredients were of high quality.

My friend Dow ordered Ravioli Porcini Trifolati (ravioli stuffed with porcini mushrooms), which looked delicious as well, and we split the Antipasto Caprese as appetizers.

The food was on the pricier side, but well worth the money. I left feeling full, sleepy, and happy.
