The Durant Food Court, also known by its more popular name the Asian Ghetto, is a Berkeley hot spot with a variety of restaurants from all sorts of cultures.
Mandarin House is the Chinese restaurant of’ the group, and I’ve been there several times to try out their different dishes. Unfortunately, the place isn’t that great. I ordered a chicken dish with fried rice and egg roll – the rice and egg roll were okay, but the chicken was dry and had a weird taste.
Portions were good, price was a little more expensive than usual, service okay, place clean. Of the Chinese restaurants in the area, I would definitely recommend Lotus House, which is several stores down the street.
