I’m a pretty avid music listener, and I’ve always been a big fan of in-ear headphones. My first pair of in-ears was the Koss Sparkplugs. I’ve gone through two pairs of Sony In-Ears and the excellent Creative EP-830 earbuds.
But nothing in my past lineup can compare to the Klipsch Image S4 In-Ear Headphones. These things just blow the rest of them out of the water.
I first came across these headphones from a glowing 4.5/5 review on CNET. Intrigued, I did some more research. And then I noticed the price. Wait, 80 bucks for a pair of headphones? No way.
As the semester went on, however, I grew increasingly dissatisfied with the muffled sound quality of my Sony earphones. I started to look around, and eventually I found a steal. $52 from Best Buy Outlet on eBay. I couldn’t wait.
And I am very happy with these in-ears. Crisp and clear sound…I can hear the highs, mids, and lows in a near-perfect ratio. The bass isn’t overwhelming, a problem in many in-ears.
Music suddenly sounded so much better – I could hear new details in a song I had heard hundreds of times before, and I’m not exaggerating.
The little background blips of The Postal Service, the screaming guitar of Hendrix, the surreal effects of Floyd…I could hear them all. Every time I slip on these headphones, I am instantly transported into the musical world.
These pairs were definitely a good investment, and a great deal at that. Near-audiophile sound quality, at a reasonable price (I’m comparing these to headphones in the post-$100 range).
Some people probably wonder what the big deal is. Why can’t stock iPod headphones do the trick? Well, you’ll have to test a pair of these headphones, or any high-quality headphones for that matter, to find out yourself. You may never go back to those white earbuds ever again.
